The Perdido Cove RV Resort and Marina sits on the intracoastal waterway two miles from gulf beaches. They advertise 56 sites; while some of them are quite small there are sites large enough to accommodate a 45 foot rig. The majority of their sites are back in or in the case of those on the water, pull in facing the water. All sites are full hookup with 30 or 50 amp service and cable. Roadways are paved and the sites gravel. The resort is well maintained by a friendly staff of locals and work-campers.

The single most important piece of advice I received before arriving was as follows: Perdido Cove is located to the right as you cross the bridge connecting Perdido Key to the mainland, but you must turn left. Take the first left and go about one block and take another left and one more block and another left. This will be River Road and the resort is on the right a few hundred feet down.

Perdido Cove has a small pool, a laundry room with four washers and four dryers, one shower for men and one for women. Perdido Cove only accepts units that are fully contained hence the low number of showers. All of the facilities are clean and user friendly. Though the pool is not heated, it should be comfortable for a majority of the year.

The marina obviously provides a place for boats, but also a sandy area to get some sun. Chairs and

swings are located by the docks. You will find horseshoe pits and a shuffleboard court there as well. The shuffleboard court has a couple of large cracks in it and wouldn't be good for a serious player.

The rates vary by time of year, type of site and length of stay. Daily rates vary from a winter low of $57 to a summer high of $95. Weekly rates vary from a winter low of $329 to a summer high of $595. Monthly rates, which are by far the most economical, vary from a winter low of $550 to a summer high of $845. You are responsible for electricity at a rate of .12 per Kwt Hr. You can always stay for less than the summer high if you choose one of the less expensive sites. You could also store your boat at the marina or even rent a condominium which is on the property.

The Perdido Cove RV Resort lies between Orange Beach, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida. The community surrounding it is laid back and abounding in restaurants and beautiful beaches. The clientele at Perdido Cove is loyal. Many of those staying have returned year after year. There is a nice recreation room where complimentary coffee is served every morning. On Tuesday they also have doughnuts. Saturday is pancake and sausage breakfast for $2.50. There are other activities such as Bingo and group lunches and covered dish get togethers.

Johnson Beach with Big Lagoon on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other provides an amazing place to spend a day on the beach. Restaurants like Fisherman's Corner, Cosmos, Cobalts, Crab Trap, and Hub Stacey's are all within a few minutes drive. Get your shrimp steamed free at Perdido Seafood and eat in your RV or at the picnic table just outside your door.

Wi-Fi is included in the cost of space rental. The service is fairly good and adequate for someone who just needs to check email and do a little web surfing. If you will be needing Wi-Fi for work or long periods of time I suggest you get an air card.

Perdido Cove RV Resort and Marina is extremely well located and provides a relaxing place to spend a day or a few months.
